The Bloomfields just released their much awaited album under EMI Philippines. It consists of 17 tracks featuring their single “Wala Nang Iba”. However, only five out of the 17 tracks are original songs of the band. The rest are just remakes. I’m actually expecting that there will be remakes but I was thinking that there will be only five remakes at the most. All of the original hits by the band are composed by Jay Jay Lozano and Rocky Collado. Nevertheless, the album will be enjoyed for those who love the music from the 50’s and the 60’s. There is one remake that I was surprised to see in the track list and that’s Iskul Bukol . (more…)
It has been a long time since I watched Fuseboxx. It was in Millenia (already closed) some time ago and it was Silent Sanctuary’s first album launch. I was able to get a copy of their 5-track EP entitled Listen. It has been two years since they’ve released their first album (Fuseboxx - 2005). With that, they are already working on their second album. So far, they do not have a working title yet. If you’ve been going to their gigs, the new song that they are playing entitled “Pagbalik” will perhaps be the first single of their upcoming album.
Indi Music, a new recording label of Ogie Alcasid, Regine Velasquez, Cacai Velasquez-Mitra and husband, and Leo Dominguez, just released Dennis Trillo’s self-titled debut album. The album contains 12 tracks and one of the tracks included is a duet of songbird Regine Velasquez and Dennis Trillo. If you are observant, you may notice how the Filipino actress or actresses make career moves. Usually, at the peak of their acting career they would suddenly become an actor slash recording artist. If they will have a pretty good following as a recording artist, a concert or another album would be the next step. (more…)
Via Ralphotskie, watch out for the third album from Moonstar88 under Sony BMG. The carrier single of the album will be their revival of Senti (an original of Yano). The album will be available in record bars around May. Moonstar88 is composed of Maychelle Baay (vocals/guitars), Paolo Bernardo (bass), Bon Sundiang (drums) and Herbert Hernandez (guitars). (more…)

Around 2 years ago, I was able to watch The Bloomfields at Dish where my Dad celebrated his birthday. Apparently, he loves The Bloomfields because they have the sound of my Dad’s generation. They would usually cover songs by the Beach Boys and The Beatles. I can still remember that they also played an original or two that same night. (more…)
I just got some information from Barfly (I think he’s the manager of the band) that their bassist is Alamid’s original drummer Perry Jocson. They’ll be coming out with their debut album soon entitled My Favorite Band which features their first single “Time”. They have also come up with a music video already. Enjoy!
If there is one thing that my father and my sister agreed on what to watch on TV, it was Sana Maulit Muli. Sana Maulit Muli is a primetime soap opera produced by ABS-CBN and it has been said that it has a similar plot with the film If Only. Aside from my Dad and my sister, people around me was constantly talking about Poknat (Kim Chiu) and Bokbok (Gerald Anderson). I did not know that Silent Sanctuary’s Maalala mo Sana is part of the track list for this OST. I just discovered it when I was searching for newly released albums. Panky Trinidad’s (seen in Pinoy Dream Academy) fans should also get this album with her version of Time after Time. (more…)
Before, there was an acoustic uproar in the music scene and now, there is bossa nova spreading like flu. Certainly, Sitti Navarro was responsible for it. There was one time when I looked for Sitti’s first album (the studio recorded version) and I cannot find it. All that they have is the Sitti Live! I don’t buy live albums so the day ended with no CD in my hand. Thus, with the success of her previous albums, Warner Music released a Limited Edition of Cafe Bossa. Even though the contents of Cafe Bossa are all revivals, the bossa nova version of each of the 18 tracks are commendable. If you already have a copy of Cafe Bossa, I think that you should have waited for the release of the Limited Edition. The Cafe Bossa [Limited Edition] comes with two CDs where one is the Audio CD with all the 18 tracks of the original Cafe Bossa album plus the bonus VCD. (more…)
