The Bloomfields just released their much awaited album under EMI Philippines. It consists of 17 tracks featuring their single “Wala Nang Iba”. However, only five out of the 17 tracks are original songs of the band. The rest are just remakes. I’m actually expecting that there will be remakes but I was thinking that there will be only five remakes at the most. All of the original hits by the band are composed by Jay Jay Lozano and Rocky Collado. Nevertheless, the album will be enjoyed for those who love the music from the 50’s and the 60’s. There is one remake that I was surprised to see in the track list and that’s Iskul Bukol . (more…)
It has been a long time since I watched Fuseboxx. It was in Millenia (already closed) some time ago and it was Silent Sanctuary’s first album launch. I was able to get a copy of their 5-track EP entitled Listen. It has been two years since they’ve released their first album (Fuseboxx - 2005). With that, they are already working on their second album. So far, they do not have a working title yet. If you’ve been going to their gigs, the new song that they are playing entitled “Pagbalik” will perhaps be the first single of their upcoming album.
Via Ralphotskie, watch out for the third album from Moonstar88 under Sony BMG. The carrier single of the album will be their revival of Senti (an original of Yano). The album will be available in record bars around May. Moonstar88 is composed of Maychelle Baay (vocals/guitars), Paolo Bernardo (bass), Bon Sundiang (drums) and Herbert Hernandez (guitars). (more…)
It has been half a year since Sino SiKat? has released their single and music video Turning My Safety Off. Sino SiKat? will release their album under Warner Music Philippines soon. The album contains 10 tracks that can be described as a mixture of jazz, soul, funk and rock. Sino Sikat is composed of Kat Agarrado (vocals), Nick Azarcon (guitars), Reli de Vera (drums), Allen Umali (bass) and Nikki Cabardo (keys). (more…)
Around 2 years ago, I was able to watch The Bloomfields at Dish where my Dad celebrated his birthday. Apparently, he loves The Bloomfields because they have the sound of my Dad’s generation. They would usually cover songs by the Beach Boys and The Beatles. I can still remember that they also played an original or two that same night. (more…)
I just got some information from Barfly (I think he’s the manager of the band) that their bassist is Alamid’s original drummer Perry Jocson. They’ll be coming out with their debut album soon entitled My Favorite Band which features their first single “Time”. They have also come up with a music video already. Enjoy!
Giniling Festival’s self-titled debut album was just launched last week and released under Terno Recordings. Since 2003, Giniling Festival has been making waves in the gig circuit for their kick ass performances and I was lucky that I was able to watch them. They are composed of: Anto Garcellano, Jebs Mangahas, Lec Cruz, Monpi Lopez and Dye Dye Santos (lead vocalist). My album choice cuts are Psycho, Siling Giniling, Mabuhay Lahat ng Single and Hari ng Metal. You should see them perform the Hari ng Metal. It has become an instant favorite among the audience upon seeing Dye Dye wear a plastic bag which will remind you of this certain foreign band. (more…)
It was nice to hear from Alamid’s original frontmen Gary Ignacio and Dex Facelo in my blog. Alamid has indeed been through a lot of challenges yet Alamid continues to create beautiful music. According to Gary Ignacio (Alamid’s vocalist), they are in Bahrain and they will be back by April (tentative as of the moment) this year. In addition, they have a new material and might record soon. And if you miss hearing the song Your Love (acoustic version), it is included in an Alpha Record’s compilation album Rock Grooves in Delirious Ways. (more…)
After the release of Stonefree’s second and most recent album Delorean, a lot of people have been anticipating the premiere of their music video Anghel. The music video is directed by Sigfreid Barros-Sanchez. The video starts with an angel in an empty room. It looks as if she’s lost her way. Then, the video proceeds with the band with occasional glimpses of the angel with a look on her face that says “Where am I?”. The video then ends with the angel by Miro’s side. (more…)
